Melms Mission Blog

Thank you for stopping by to see what God is doing in our lives. God has really called us into the mission field and He is changing our lives through these missions. So, we decided that we should start a blog in order to chronicle our journeys, especially for those who have contributed to our financial needs. We also hope that God will use this as a tool to open other peoples' eyes as well. Please come back occasionally to check for updates, because God has really opened a flood gate for us! If God has placed it on your heart to contribute, please click the donate link below. We appreciate your prayers and support! God bless.

Vacation Bible School

There were 100 kids that attended VBS. Those kids were predetermined and given tickets. They pick the children of families that attend the local church first. The idea is that the other families will see these children being blessed and that will encourage them to go to church as well. Before we got to the village, Brent told us there would be kids watching from the other side of the fence and that it would tug at our heart strings but that his ministry would be coming back to this village again to hold another VBS.

We went to the village of Merger for vacation bible school. When we got there, the kids were still in school. The pictures right above this blog are of the classes that were still in session. While they finished up, we prepared the big room (the structure that was completed the day before) for the recreation activities. They played monster ball, four corners and blind volleyball. There were five different lessons given and the kids prepared a craft or received a prize to accompany each bible story: 1.Jonah and the whale, 2. explanation of the salvation beads 3. Jesus walking on water 4. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego 5. Jesus making the blind man see. Afterwards, Kenny presented the plan of salvation and then we played soccer!
