Melms Mission Blog

Thank you for stopping by to see what God is doing in our lives. God has really called us into the mission field and He is changing our lives through these missions. So, we decided that we should start a blog in order to chronicle our journeys, especially for those who have contributed to our financial needs. We also hope that God will use this as a tool to open other peoples' eyes as well. Please come back occasionally to check for updates, because God has really opened a flood gate for us! If God has placed it on your heart to contribute, please click the donate link below. We appreciate your prayers and support! God bless.

Haiti/God calling

I didn't even make it back from Mazatlan before I signed myself up for the Haiti mission trip. Let me give you some background...Our oldest son, Colton, had a current events project due and it had to be something NOT going on in the United States. The earthquake had just happened, so it was all over CNN.com. Colton and I sat reading the stories of the tragedy in Haiti...dump trucks full of dead bodies, orphaned children and so on. My heart broke for these people that I didn't even know and I was saying crazy things like, "honey, would you want to adopt from Haiti?" Sooo, a month after this we're in Mazatlan and some of the group started talking about Haiti and that the church would be going in June and November. Without hesitation, I immediately let Kenny know I wanted to go. Over the next three months I worked on raising money to pay for my trip. Between monetary donations and contributions to my gargae sale I was able to raise the money for the trip. I was ready to go!
